The Operation Christmas Child ministry extends far beyond a gift-filled shoe box. A goal of the project is to equip local churches and ministry partners to introduce children to God's Great Gift by offering Gospel storybooks during shoe box distributions, to give them the opportunity to participate in the discipleship program, "The Greatest Journey," and to offer as many graduates as possible a New Testament in their local language. These materials are used by local churches and ministry partners as effective resources to show children how to come into relationship with God, to explore His Word, and to encourage children to grow in their faith.

The Greatest Gift

These colorful Gospel story books have been handed out to over 45 million boys and girls during Operation Christmas Child gift distributions. Colorful illustrations bring the story of the Savior to life for children. Many of them learn about Jesus for the first time, and then are able to share the Good News with family and friends. In 2009, the Gospel storybooks were printed in 52 languages and made available in 75 countries.

The Greatest Journey

The Greatest Journey is the name of the new 12-lesson Bible series currently being utilized by our offices in the United States and Canada in the Discipleship Program. This story-based curriculum is specifically written for children in the developing world, enabling them to come to know Jesus Christ, follow Him every day, and tell others the Good News. A Leader’s Guide will be provided to all volunteer teachers to help them prepare an engaging lesson plan. The lessons are divided into three separate booklets of four lessons each entitled “God’s Great Gift,” “Walking with God,” and “Sharing God’s Gift.” The Greatest Journey material will be translated into an estimated 55 languages and be used in over 70 countries.

The Greatest Gift of All New Testament

The Greatest Gift of All New Testament is an exciting new four color book specifically designed for children who live in the developing world. The Greatest Gift of All New Testament contains the full New Testament and 10 selected Old Testament stories that purposefully engage children and youth. Introductions to each book, a glossary of theological words, and color illustrations have been added to help the reader understand the important Biblical themes and concepts. The Greatest Gift of All New Testament will be offered in dozens of countries.
