Peace

The Comprehensive Peace Agreement that was reached in 2005 brought an end to decades of bloody civil war between northern and southern Sudan. Sadly, there are fears that new violence could erupt as 2011 approaches and the people of southern Sudan hold a referendum on independence. Pray that men and women throughout this war-torn nation will find lasting peace through the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.

Darfur

More than 2.5 million people in Darfur depend on emergency aid for survival, but at least a dozen relief agencies were recently expelled from the country. Samaritan’s Purse is still there, providing aid to more than 200,000 people. Pray for resources to help meet the pressing needs of suffering people in Darfur.

Church Rebuilding

Hundreds of village churches were destroyed during Sudan’s brutal civil war. Through the Church Rebuilding Project, Samaritan’s Purse has already helped reconstruct nearly 300 churches. Pray that churches and individuals in the United States will help sponsor the rebuilding of more churches in Sudan.

Wells

Clean water is critical to the health and survival of millions in the arid regions of Sudan. Pray for financial support for the Samaritan’s Purse effort to drill 200 community wells alongside rebuilt churches in the rugged Nuba Mountains.

Projects

Samaritan’s Purse is helping many thousands of Sudanese through a variety of projects and programs that provide food, shelter, clean water, medical aid, adult education, vocational training, instruction in animal husbandry and farming, and training for church leaders. Pray that God will use these efforts to open hearts to the Gospel and draw many people to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
