Urgent Needs
World Medical Mission, the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse, places Protestant Christian physicians and dentists for short term assignments at evangelical mission hospitals and clinics around the world.
General Surgeon
de Meskine Hospital - Cameroon — de Meskine is a 100 bed hospital located in a remote area of Cameroon. This is a challenging mission location with few expatriates. The hospital provides surgery, maternity services and general medicine along with treatment in the outpatient clinic. French is the primary language along with the local Fulfulde dialect. Few patients or staff speak English. Over 90% of the population is Muslim.
The long term general surgeon will be leaving de Meskine in June 2012 at which time the hospital will be without surgical coverage. Any general surgeon volunteering short term at de Meskine will be the only expatriate physician in the hospital and thus must be comfortable working exclusively with national staff.
The individual volunteer is responsible for all costs associated with the trip. World Medical Mission will provide assistance in arranging all travel and other logistical elements of the trip including visas and any necessary medical licensing.
It is preferred that volunteers be fluent in French but an interpreter can be arranged. de Meskine will accept volunteers for a minimum three week commitment.
If you are a Protestant Christian physician interested in filling this need, please contact or by phone at 828/278-1144.
