Tenwek Hospital - Kenya — Tenwek Hospital located in Bomet, Kenya is a 300 bed referal hospital with a wide range of surgical, medical, maternity and pediatric services. Tenwek also participates in a general surgery residency program (PAACS) which allows volunteers to come that are interested in teaching residents. A minimum service of two weeks plus travel is required; one month service or longer is preferred. Tenwek is a very family friendly location.

The individual volunteer is responsible for all costs associated with the trip. World Medical Mission personnel will provide assistance in arranging all travel including international flights and in-country travel as well as any needed medical licenses, visas or permits.

Soddo Christian Hospital - Ethiopia — Soddo Christian Hospital is located in the southwestern region of Ethiopia and is approximately a five-hour drive from the capital city of Addis Ababa. The hospital currently has 120 beds and participates in the PAACS training program. This is a family-friendly location. A minimum of four weeks service is preferred. Three months notice is required for volunteers interested in serving.

Kijabe Hospital - Kenya — Kijabe Hospital is a 235 bed referral hospital that is located in Kijabe, Kenya, about one hour northwest of Nairobi, Kenya. Minimum length of service is one month. Due to the need for a medical license, two months notice is required for pathologist interested in serving at Kijabe. Families are welcome. Kijabe provides tissue diagnostic services to thirty-seven hospitals throughout East Africa.

Kibogora Hospital - Rwanda — Kibogora Hospital has approximately 175 beds and is located 100 miles southwest of the capital city of Kigali. Volunteers fly into Kigali and are then driven to the hospital. A minimum of one month service is preferred, but not required. Two months notice is required for volunteers to serve. Families are welcome.

Anesthesiologist

Kapsowar Hospital - Kenya — Kapsowar Hospital is a small, district-level mission hospital which provides the majority of medical care to the Northwestern region of Kenya, about 60 miles from the Uganda border. The 126-bed, multi-building hospital provides facilities for maternity, pediatric, medical, and surgical care. Mobile clinics travel to three centers up to 56 miles away. Four dispensaries provide simple health care for the local people. The hospital has an x-ray department, laboratory, and pharmacy. This is a family-friendly location. A minimum service of two weeks plus travel is required; one month service or longer is preferred.

Hopital de Meskine - Cameroon — Hopital de Meskine is located in the town of Maroua in Northern Cameroon. The hospital has approximately 100 beds and offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient care. A minimum length of three weeks service is required. Three months notice is needed for volunteers interested in serving. Non-surgical volunteers must speak French.

Galmi Hospital - Niger — Galmi Hospital is located in a remote area of southwestern Niger. This very busy hospital has over 120 beds and treats more than 1,000 outpatients each week. A minimum of one month service is required for non-surgical physicians and a minimum of three weeks for surgeons. Three months notice is required for volunteers to serve. This is a family-friendly location, but care must be taken due to the extreme heat.

Galmi Hospital - Niger — Currently Galmi Hospital, which is run by SIM Mission Board, is located in the Sahara Desert and is isolated however, the staff is very friendly and the hospital serves almost the entire country. It has approximately 130 beds and is quite busy. After flying into Niamey, the capital of Niger, you will fly up to the hospital via a mission flight with SIM. Very family oriented but caution must be taken due to the extreme heat. Three weeks service is required. Two months notice is required for volunteers to serve.
